Classic Car Detailing
A service designed for vehicles that need the ultimate gentle detailing process, with zero pressure washing, and the latest advanced cleaning products - it's a rinseless, and complete contact clean, that uses lubricants to clean "dry," in the traditional sense.
Bilt Hamber Phat-Neut is a pH-neutral, multi-mode rinseless wash, which removes real-world traffic film with cleaning power surpassing all other pH7 cleaners. Used as a rinseless wash, waterless cleaner, applied using a pump-spray prewash, wheel cleaner, and targeted contamination remover.
Using Bilt Hamber's Lift-Mode Technology, Phat-Neut lowers surface tension to wet, encapsulate and lift mineral-rich road film, brake dust, tyre residue, insects, bird lime, and general grime away from the surface without relying on caustic alkalinity, solvents, or aggressive chemistry.
Equipment and Material
Preparation
Goal: To create the showroom finishes I'm known for without using traditional and popular exterior detailing methods.
All chemicals are mixed to the correct ratio's using de-ionised water.
- Bilt Hamber Phat-Neut: Working and completing in sections, applied using a spray to microfibre mitt, dilution ratio 10-litre bucket, with 40 ml of product. Spray a liberal amount of de-ionised water before a thorough wipe over of the diluted product. Wipe dry with a microfibre drying towel.
- Bilt Hamber Surfex HD: Applied to wheels, tyres and wheel arches, (1:5 ratio) using a trigger bottle, 5 minute dwell time and then rinsed.
Wash
- Bilt Hamber Auto Wash Shampoo: Double bucket method, this shampoo is highly concentrated and designed to work in harmony with ceramic coatings and nanotechnology sealants. I use this because it's an awesome cleaner, plus the lubricant aids in the application of wax.
- Observation: Gentle wipe over with a microfibre mitt. I use the mitt as a diagnostic tool, not a cleaning aid. While I do move it over the bodywork, there's zero pressure - the purpose is to identify any remaining contaminants, like tar and sap etc.
- Bilt Hamber Cleanser Fluid: A pretreatment paint cleaner that removes all remnants of polish, wax residue and oily or greasy road films. A non-abrasive formula that primes paintwork to leave a perfectly clean surface, ensuring fresh coats of wax bond to your vehicles paintwork with maximum adhesion, which increases the wax lifecycle.
Protection
- Bilt Hamber Double Speed-Wax: Applied by hand to a wet surface, low dwell time, if it dries the finish quality will decrease slightly, so wet always and then buffed off to that showroom finish I'm known for.
Double Speed is an an award-winning, high-performance paste wax containing T1 carnauba and hydrophobic polymers, offering 4-6 months of durable, detergent-proof protection. It is highly regarded for its deep gloss, and exceptional water beading.
While it's more time consuming to apply wax by hand, it's by far the best wax to use, customers love the gloss finish and water beading, plus the gloss lasts a lot longer than spray on waxes I've used before. Spray on waxes look great on the day, and when it rains, but look dull after 3 days of dry weather, and if the bonding goes bad, it's expensive (with my time) to remove - hence I prefer the durability and quality of a hand wax.
- Glass Cleaning: More "secret sauce" - I wax the windows too.
Glass is not perfectly smooth; it contains tiny, microscopic pores and pits. The wax fills these irregularities, creating a perfectly smooth surface that behaves like an invisible barrier rather than a reflective, uneven surface. Discovered by accident, once clean it looks like the window is down.
Interior
Basic hoover and wipe over, the result being a tidy interior but not immaculate.
Full Detail
A full interior clean, resulting in a high quality finish, steam cleaned, carpet extracted, stain removal, and plastic trim polished and UV protected.
